Marcela Růžičková
For a quarter of a century, the artist has been engaged in precise work at the glass burner, where unique glass flowers are created under her hands according to her own, time-tested designs. Her work also includes the fascinating world of miniatures in the form of tiny animals, which serve as original earrings or pendants, thus combining traditional figurine making with modern jewelry design.
Her many years of practice and experience with the material have resulted in a unique educational program called "Glass Flowers," which focuses on polytechnic education for children in elementary schools. The author is actively involved in developing the craftsmanship of the younger generation and, through her workshops, introduces first-grade students to the fascinating properties of glass. This educational activity helps to preserve awareness of traditional Czech crafts and teaches children patience and aesthetic sensibility.
A visit to the workshop offers a first-hand experience of production, where guests can watch the glass melting process and have jewelry made to order while they wait. For the youngest visitors aged five and up, there is a creative workshop where they can assemble their own glass flower from pre-made components. Everyone leaves the studio not only with a handmade artifact, but also with a deeper understanding of the demanding process of glassworking over a flame.
