AJETO
The AJETO Glassworks in Lindava represents a unique fusion of cutting-edge design and traditional craftsmanship, which has made Czech glassmaking famous around the world. Under the guidance of master craftsmen, the workshop creates exclusive art objects, iconic trophies, and designer lighting fixtures that define the modern aesthetic of glass.
The story began in the early 1990s, when it emerged from a visionary meeting between architect Bořek Šípek and master glassmaker Petr Novotný. The glassworks’ philosophy is rooted in the courage to experiment with shapes and colors, as evidenced by collections inspired by the elements of nature and prestigious commissions such as the Thalia Awards and trophies for Tour de France winners. Art objects from the AJETO glassworks are held in the collections of such figures as former U.S. President Bill Clinton and singer Mick Jagger; Václav Havel was also an admirer of Šípek’s work.
A visit to the Lindava facility offers an immersive glimpse into the fascinating process of transforming molten glass into delicate art, which you can watch directly from the viewing galleries. For those seeking a hands-on experience, there is a unique opportunity to try working with a glassblower’s pipe and, under the supervision of master glassblowers, create your own original souvenir. The entire experience is rounded out by a visit to the authentic Glassmakers’ Tavern, where, in close proximity to the furnaces, the genius loci of this exceptional place comes to life.
