Cultural monument in Česká Kamenice
House No. 241 on Nerudova Street in Česká Kamenice was declared the first cultural monument in the Ústí nad Labem Region in 2026.
The National Heritage Institute stated the following about it:
The cultural, historical, and heritage value of building No. 241 lies primarily in its architectural design. It is an example of a brick house with wooden framing on the second floor, typical of the Bohemian Switzerland region. Thanks to its location, this house dominates the view of Nerudova Street and is thus its natural landmark. The astronomical clock, which was located on the gable of the house, was one of the former symbols of the city and at the same time an original advertisement for the shop located in it. From the perspective of the professional component of state monument preservation, the greatest value of the building lies in its preserved structures, which are over two hundred years old, its external appearance, and all its handcrafted components (relics of the clock installation, roof truss, wooden floor with paneling, etc.). The return of the astronomical clock mechanism, including the figures of the apostles and bell ringers, albeit in a different material and design, has restored an attractive feature to the building, adding to its uniqueness.
