From Crystal Valley straight to the Winter Olympics!
The Czech glassmaking and design company Lasvit presents new trophies for Czech medalists at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. This year, the Czech Olympic team has 114 members!
The hand-blown glass objects were created especially for this occasion at the AJETO glassworks and commemorate not only Olympic success, but also the journey that led to it. Lasvit has been supplying trophies for the Czech Olympic team since 2012 and creates an original work of art for each Games.
The trophy, entitled The Glide, was designed by Winnie Chen from Lasvit's in-house team in Hong Kong. The object is inspired by the movement of winter sports, their rhythm, precision, and grace. The flowing lines and gently twisted shape evoke the tracks of skis in the snow or the movement of skates on ice—the moment when effort turns into performance.
The visual character of the trophy is emphasized by the use of light. Delicate bubbles in the glass, varying transparency, and sandblasted lines inspired by Olympic pictograms create the impression of snow and ice, adding depth and rhythm to the object.
The inspiration from winter sports has a personal dimension for Winnie Chen. Thanks to her family living in Canada, she has been skiing and skating since childhood, and her younger brother was a speed skater. This view of sport as a path to discipline and concentration was also reflected in the design of the trophy.
Each The Glide trophy is hand-blown without the use of a mold. The glass is shaped directly in the glassmaker's hands, with an emphasis on the balance between stability and characteristic twisting. Each piece is original—just like every sporting achievement that deserves to be remembered.
